The OLLE featuring a series of hiking courses for your enjoyment through the nature.
Originated in Jeju Island, South Korea, there are 15 expansion courses in Kyushu and 2 within Fukuoka Prefecture.
In this episode, we will introduce you to the Yame Course featuring Yame Central Tea Garden and other significant sites in Yame region. Bringing you other recommended Spots to Stop By, we discover the attractions of the hiking course for this season's beautiful greenery.

It's another year of beautiful greenery. . . How about the OLLE for your enjoyment for the season's nature?

Do you happen to know what the OLLE is?
The OLLE began in Jeju Island, South Korea as a series of walking courses
with the term originally meaning, "a little path leading to my house."
These nature-filled courses quickly gained popularity in Jeju
and eventually developed into its own phrase meaning "to hike."
Kyushu OLLE as its expansion features 15 different courses,
drawing attention from both domestic and international crowd in recent years.
 

About the Yame course

In today's episode, we will walk through the 2nd official course within Fukuoka Prefecture.
What are some of the features of the Yame course?
The 11km course starts at the Yamanoi Park
and finishes at the Iwatoyama Historical Museum.
It is a beginner-friendly course.

Donanzan Kofun Tumulus

We are now at the Donanzan Kofun Tumulus
It's just over the hill. . .
This is the Donanzan Kofun,
said to be the last one made for the Yame Kofun Tumulus Clusters in the late 6th century.
It's a larger one with 48m in diameter and its stone chamber measuring at 18m in length.
You can go inside, correct?
That's a big stone. . .
I wonder how they carried it.

What makes OLLE so attractive?
You can go at your pace and enjoy the nature at first hand.
You will see flowers blooming and hear the birds chirping. . .
It's a great walk for experiencing those things in the nature.
There are red and blue ribbons to get you through the course
and to help you navigate with or without the guide.
 

Yame Central Tea Garden

We've arrived at a large tea garden. 
This is a great scenery. . .
Yame Central Tea Garden is about 65 hectares in size.
The well-know Yame tea comes from this place.
You can see the Ariake Sea and the Shimabara Peninsula on a clear day.

This is Ezaki Foods founded back in 1931.
You can still get a ramune (soda) like this one here.
Tea is good; ramune is good, too.
 

Maruyamazuka Kofun Tumulus

So, this is the Maruyamazuka Kofun Tumulus. . .
It's a circular, mound burial built in the late 6th century.
33m in diameter and 5.3m in height.
It's designated as one of the nation's historic sites.
 

Iwatoyama Kofun Tumulus

This one here is the Iwatoyama Kofun Tumulus.
This key-hole shaped burial was built in the early 6th century.
This entire premise is the tumulus.
It's large, isn't it?

Kyushu OLLE's Yame course with a 3 and 1/2 hour hike. . .
the finish line is here, the Iwatoyama Historical Museum. 
It felt so good.
It was a relatively easier course, wasn't it?

Yame tea, local-brand sake, snacks, sweets, and variety of agricultural products of Yame region for sale.
Also recommended for a quick visit are the neighboring Yame Traditional Craftwork Center as well as the surrounding structures of the town symbolized with unified white walls.
